Mahaweli Reach certified with 5 Crowns for Food Hygiene
Mahaweli Reach Hotel had the honour of being awarded 05 out of 05 crowns for food hygiene by Ind –Expo Certification Limited a not for profit, certification & training organization established by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) and the National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) of Sri Lanka as it’s partners. It is ably supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) under it’s project – "Strengthening the International Certification Capacity in Sri Lanka"(Integrated Industrial Development Support Program Phase 11) under the auspices of the Ministry of Industrial Development.
Ind-Expo also operates the "Crowns Scheme for Food Hygiene" where food outlets, restaurants and hotels are assessed for hygienic conditions and awarded crowns depending on their hygienic conditions.The aim of this program is to safeguard the local consumers and also to facilitate the export market. This program has been developed on par with similar programs in operation in developed countries.
Crowns for Food Hygiene scheme has been developed based on International best practices to assist and encourage food businesses in Sri Lanka to follow good hygienic practices. Food establishments registered with the scheme are inspected and categorized according to their hygienic level and are awarded 1 – 5 crowns.
